Being an amateur racer, I lack a certain amount of car heat fitness which was hampering my time in the car.

Wearing a cool shirt doesn't make you drive any faster - but allows for more consistent times during a race. I would highly recommend wearing a cool shirt especially when wearing full race attire. before switching to the cool shirt, the longer the race went on and the hotter I got, the slower my times became

With 20+ years of motor cross riding and racing experience it was with some reservations that I first tried out the "Quantum Chill Cool Vest". I'm very happy to report it has proven more than helpful when dealing with hot weather riding conditions, although the effects are not immediately apparent while riding, it becomes very clear from the moment the ride has finished that it has made a big difference. I have found that even when used under my body armour, the vest does the job that your sweat would normally do, which helps tremendously with retaining fluids and keeping your body properly hydrated in hot conditions. The other indicators that I have found of how effective the vest is include, a huge reduction in after ride recovery time, a greatly reduced need to drink fluids which is seeing my 2lt Camelback lasting well over twice as long, an increased concentration span in extreme heat, and when we all finish riding I always notice I am nowhere near as red faced or sweating profusely like other riders in our group who are not using a "Quantum Chill Cool Vest". As a Sports Deititian, I recommend athletes use optimal hydration and cool strategies to maximise performance. Even a small level of dehydration from sweating can seriously impact on mental and physical functioning. Using cooling strategies such as a Cool Vest lowers surface temperature which results in reduced sweating and therefore fluid requirements. This could mean the difference between winning and losing or even simply finishing the race.
